Really love this library! They are accommodating a run a great system of holds/check outs with the rest of the system, not much to complain about at all! The building is beautiful and surrounded by a large property with plenty of good little reading spots/space to walk. I do think their hold system could do without the large sheets of paper along the outside of every book... back in Cincinnati the system was very similar but would just use the one receipt sticking out of the books to call them out, just a lot less waste in the long run!
You wouldn't think you are in a library. I came here to study and there is kids running up and down the stairs, playing hide and seek. The concept that a library is a quiet place doesn't exist here. Even when on the first floor with study guide on loud- I could clearly hear the conversation between the librarian and the person checking out books. Recommendation- enforce the rules of "inside voices" even with parents. On positive note- it is a beautiful location. Restored location with history that cannot be replaced.
A cozy library with three floors logically organized. It is named after Ms Katie Wheeler who belongs to Irvine family. Definitely a place worth visiting for tourists as well as locals.This has been my favorite library ever since I moved to Irvine.
Such a cute, historical place! Been going here since middle school, and now in college, I still stop by this adorable place. Its such a hidden little gem in Irvine. Perfect if you are a bookworm! There is also lots of garden space too, to read. Highly recommend going in the morning up until 1ish, to beat after school crowds with soccer moms lol. I use to tutor here around that time when I was younger, and it can get busy.
