This is a big library located at convenient place in Irvine. There are many activities throughout the month in various languages, mainly English, Korean and Chinese. There's family movie time, pajama story times, toddler, baby, preschool storytimes and other language story times too. The collection of kids and adults books is huge.Bonus is the view from the backdoor, as shown in a photo that I have uploaded. There are ducks in the pond, and there's also a play area nearby. There are other places like child resource center (CRC library) and fine arts center in the next block.You are missing a lot if you reside in Irvine and don't make use of this.
The Friends Of The Library Bookstore is fabulous for finding next to new books and videos for a great bargain. And the ladies that run it are So Sweet! As for the Heritage Library itself, it is a great resource. Has very helpful employees to help find what you need. However, when it comes to being a place to TRULY and properly study, it is ALWAYS Far From Quiet. There is always 2-5 tables full with tutors. And people talking in normal voices, answering phones, or children running a muck. It is the closest library for the current needs. Ultimately I prefer to go to the Mission Viejo City Library where they have study rooms with closed doors, and they keep it quiet.
It's too noisy in here for a library. I'm here right now and there is children screaming like it's a play ground with their parents doing nothing about it. I saw 2 staff employees being very loud with that cart thing that carrys books, and this lady sitting right next to me is being very loud with the keyboard. I came here to have some peace and do some research on a computer to make it easier then using my phone and I couldn't do that at this location .
While parking is tight, I am always looking forward to my Irvine library visits. I thought just surfing the web covers the need, but even just the amount of magazines to scan makes trip an adventure. I even learned that the Consumer's Report magazine (in paper has more detail then the online version. Who would thought.
Love this library. Staff is knowledgeable friendly patient and helpful. Lots of reading areas and tables. Could use some more handicap parking adjacent to the building; expanded spaces in the staff parking lot at least.
