I've used Camhs and I think the service is excellent. I'd give it five stars if not for the reception staff. They're so unfriendly, seriously they need some training in customer contact. They don't look up from their desks when you come to reception, no smile or "hello". I feel uncomfortable that I've interrupted them or ask a question. They're not friendly on the phone either. Big contrast to Camhs in Arrol Park, Ayr, where they are great!
Three of my four children were born at this hospital before the maternity unit was moved to Crosshouse. Staff were absolutely fantastic and could never fault them at this wonderful place, including in the special care baby unit (circa 2001) My oldest child, they would be pleased to know, is thriving and getting on in life. We have used the scanning facility back in 2010 when I was pregnant with my youngest and the staff again were absolutely fantastic. We have used Camhs at the facility and staff there are absolutely amazing, show unconditional positive regard and have really helped my child through trauma based counselling. We just lost two family members within the space of 3 months of each other. The staff are fantastic. They have helped myself and my partner after the shock diagnosis of ASD for one of my children and they have went above and beyond the call of duty to help us as a family. I cannot thank them enough for what they have done for us and continue to do. Used ADOC (Ayrshire Doctors On Call) a few times here and again, staff are fantastic. I cannot find fault anywhere in Ayrshire Central Hospital at all. To sum up the amazing treatment as a family we have all received from the staff at Ayrshire Central Hospital, well, they are cheery, nice, positive, helpful, shows unconditional positive regard, accommodating, made to feel welcome and comfortable. I cannot find fault anywhere within this place. Thanks to all the staff here for all you do and continue to do.
this is where I was born
I had a family member referred to CAMHs Ayrshire Central Hospital and the damage, distress, pain and suffering they caused my family and I is irrepairable. .I attended multiple outpatient appointments with the family member oblivious to the falsifications being documented. After the first appointment with a psychologist I now know that she did not believe the medical history I gave her was true. She informed others that the history of Meningitis and Cerebral Palsy "did not marry with his case notes.".Portraying me as a liar a fantasist and a crank. It took me eight months of hell to obtain Yorkhill casenotes to prove the truth. On a subsequent appointment we saw A Locum Psychiatrist who failed to document the family members two year history of excruciating anxiety and omitted multiple facts. But wrote "not sure what is true and what is not".On the next appointment she blamed my house move for the family members Attempted suicide .She failed to recognise extensive history. She failed to recognise that she had documented BEFORE move that the family member had stated "life not worth living".She failed to recognise she had commenced a drug with side effect of Attempted Suicide, suicidal Ideation and Aggression in adolescents and doubled the dose. This drug is not licenced in U.K. For 16 year olds.It should be prescribed with caution when other therapies have failed. Many health boards have protocols in place for prescribing this drug..She failed to recognise that the family member was grieving the death of a loved one.Choosing to blame me.On another appointment we were seen by an Occupational therapist, filling in for a staff nurse. She at no point introduced herself as An Occupational thereapist.During this appointment I relayed a traumatic event. I became tearful but then composed myself.I now know she described me as " struggling with capacity" erratic" and not sure what she understands ".I do not lack capacity and this statement breaches The Mental Capacity Act Guidelines. On another appointment the family member who is intelligent and articulate was spoken to like a toddler and The staff nurse brought out a drawing pad and felt marker communicating by drawing pictures. He stated he did not want to return and asked why he was treated like a dummy? That made two of us.On another appointment A psychiatrist attempted to carry out A mental capacity assessment on the family member without my knowledge or his. This breaches mental capacity act guidelines. Incidentally the family member has capacity. The list is endless.and shocking to the core.I formally complained and ten months later I received a response that failed to address every point raised. This breaches NHS complaints guidelines which state I have a right to have my concerns addressed.I am currently involved with Information governance who are scanning my evidence into the casenotes and putting an alert on the file.I am currently leasing with The information Comissioner office who are investigating. Two members of staff have been named in a hate incident by North Ayrshire police as a result of this yet Ayrshire and Arran deny discrimination and have swept my legitimate complaint under the carpet .
